Vice President, Engineering
Job Description
Benefuel is seeking a Vice President of Engineering at its Dallas, Texas office to lead the scale-up and commercialization of its ENSEL refining platform, which is based on patented, heterogeneous catalyst chemistry. The ideal candidate will be constantly engaged to “build it better and more efficiently.” Benefuel’s strategy is to own and operate biodiesel facilities using ENSEL technology in the US and around the world.
Benefuel currently operates a fully integrated and proven demonstration plant in and is gathering process data for use in commercial refineries. Initial projects in 2012 will include a large-scale retrofit of an existing refinery and a green field refinery in the US.
The successful candidate is an engineering veteran with experience scaling up and managing large projects, interfacing and working with EPC firms and has a proven history of delivering projects on time, on budget and to a high degree of quality. The candidate will provide leadership, technical oversight, management, innovative vision, and overall direction to Benefuel’s Engineering Department and establishing the foundation for delivering multiple projects over a disperse geographic.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction, coordination and oversight for the Engineering Group;
- Produce metrics, reports, and data related to projects and/or management of the department.
- Set standards in document storage, drawing identification, and logic programming;
- Develop and maintain the company’s engineering competency and capability;
- Make recommendations on manpower needs and manage departmental development;
- Lead engineering group in support of all engineering needs for multiple facilities;
- Collaborate on and lead research into new processes for production and processes improvement;
- Evaluate production problems/conditions and provide support and oversight for new equipment installations;
- Recommend and implement changes in support of continuous improvement efforts;
- Manage facility expansions, upgrades and process equipment projects;
- Ensure high quality products are turned out right the first time;
- Evaluate the performance and results of all projects, services and initiatives as well as people.
Requirements
- Minimum 4-Yr Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Chemical) and preference to MSc degree;
- Minimum of 15 years experience in the refinery, petrochemical or industrial chemicals industries;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing engineers and other professionals;
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring and development of engineering professionals;
- Familiarization with process simulation tools like ASPEN and HISYS;
- Process scale-up experience and Schedule A development experience;
- Project oversight and development experience;
- Excellent communications skills.
